About Me

Noelle Meade, food blog authorHi Everyone,

Well here it is, my life according to food.  Yes, food is a huge part of my life and always has been. From rolling fresh pasta with my grandmother when I was six-years-old to cooking gourmet short ribs over polenta for my family; great food is essential in my world. I remember spooning fresh ricotta in my mouth as a kid because my grandmother insisted I’d love it. Well, my love for cheese started that day and every time there’s a charcuterie board or some form of burrata on a restaurant’s menu I have to order it. Side note: burrata is basically what you get when fresh mozzarella and ricotta have a baby, but I’ll get into this later.

I’m a Food Network and Cooking Channel guru. On Sunday mornings, you can find me on the couch watching Pioneer Women, Barefoot Contessa and Bobby Flay (lately I only catch a glimpse of an episode. This whole being a mama of two thing is no joke. Busy is an understatement). Sometimes I will refer to these celebrity chefs as if we’re on a personal level and first name basis; talking about Ree as if we had lunch together last week. Their cooking inspires me as does traveling and exploring new restaurants.

Luckily, my husband Derek, is just as much of a foodie as I am. I probably wouldn’t have agreed to marry him if he lacked a sophisticated palette or had an issue with cheese, pasta or trying new healthy options. I call Derek my grill master. I can prep and season the perfect steak and he cooks it to perfection. No really. It’s like butter. Every once in a while he refers to himself as Bobby Flay, but he deserves that kind of recognition. He’s probably ready to kill me as he’s reading this right now, but you get the idea.

So my plan is to attract readers that appreciate and love food as much as I do. The Savory Spoon food blog will focus on savory food in particular. I’m not a huge sweets eater nor am I a chocolate lover (with the exception of my pregnancies). On the very rare occasion I may crave a gooey chocolate chip cookie or an ice-cream, but I emphasize on the “rare.” All of my recipes will be savory and I may have some contributors offer their sweet tooth secrets down the road. I also hope to share with you some secrets on how to create some sweet and savory healthy food options for toddlers and picky palettes.

I’ve set aside different topics I plan to focus on; topics such as, innovative classic dishes, quick fix meals that are easy to throw together after the long work day, figure friendly plates that don’t make you feel guilty and much more. I’ll share reviews on great restaurants I experience during my travels and local tastes as well. Every now and then I’ll chime in with a personal story about motherhood or life in general. Well I hope you enjoy the Savory Spoon food blog!

Cheers to Cheese,

Noelle
